The rammed earth walls in this home feature a ribbon of different coloured earth that runs around the house. It's an eye-catching addition to the walls which is attractive and interesting without being overwhelming. The house also features a rammed earth fireplace, creating by ramming large stones of the same material within the formwork, and filling in with the rammed earth material. As the wall went up, we transitioned to smaller stones and finally to just soil material.  The open timber beams in the house are a strong and very attractive feature of the house, and were a key factor in the design.
