Eumundi development

In 2016 we built the rammed earth walls for three houses in a four house subdivision in Eumundi, in the Noosa hinterland. One of the houses, 'Avonlea' received a Commendation for residential design in the 2018 Architecture Awards.

“Simplicity resonates throughout the design. Material selection and spatial planning enhance the home’s connection to its environment.

Avonlea was designed and built for a young family and stands on a commanding elevated site in the centre of the market town of Eumundi. With a material palette of rammed earth, steel and glass, the house is linear in plan and orientated north, framing the spectacular view of Cooroy Mountain. Clean lines and open planning complement family life.

The bedrooms bookend the central kitchen, dining, and living areas that open up to both north and south. Lightness, openness, materiality and fresh air all evoke an emotional response to home; a living building that changes with the rise and fall of the sun. The razor sharp steel roof with large eaves provides shelter and shade to the building and in its fineness provides contrast to the heaviness of the rammed earth.”
