Project Overview
Our rammed earth walls feature throughout the Wildlife Hospital at Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo, bringing traditional earth-building techniques into a modern healthcare environment. The natural texture and warmth of the rammed earth create a calming, welcoming atmosphere while helping to connect the building to its surrounding landscape.
Beyond its visual appeal, rammed earth was selected for its durability, low maintenance requirements, and excellent thermal mass properties, helping to create a comfortable internal environment for staff, visitors, and the wildlife in their care.
The project demonstrates how natural building materials can successfully be integrated into large-scale public and healthcare facilities, combining sustainability, performance, and architectural character.
